The Dixie Region is Growing
(November 7, 2005) - After many months of thought and planning, the North Carolina Hosta Society petitioned the American Hosta Society (AHS) to move from Mid-Atlantic (Region 2) to Dixie (Region 3). AHS approved the move this past fall. It also approved the move to Dixie of Virginia's local society. Double check the Mason-Dixon Line: both states really are on our side. We are very excited to have these hosta lovers join our family.
Local societies in North Carolina have reorganized into two clubs: North Carolina Hosta Society and Charlotte Hosta Society. From Virginia comes the Potomac Hosta Club, Inc. We will increase our membership by several hundred in the local societies and many other AHS members in these states.
The plan is for AHS Region 2 to dissolve and the remaining local societies to move to one of the surrounding regions. Thanks to Bob Solberg for his efforts to make this a reality. Welcome, y'all !
